How SportsSkill Ladder Works

Getting Started

What is SportsSkill Ladder?
SportsSkill Ladder is a competitive sports ladder system that allows players to challenge each other, track their rankings, and compete in various sports like Tennis, Basketball, Squash, and more.
Creating Your Account
  1. Download the SportsSkill Ladder app
  2. Tap Register on the login screen
  3. Enter your name, email, phone number, and password
  4. Verify your email address
  5. Start exploring ladders and challenges!
Joining Your First Ladder
  1. Go to the Ladders screen
  2. Browse available public ladders
  3. Tap on a ladder to view details
  4. Tap Join Ladder or enter an invite code
  5. You'll be added to the ladder and can start challenging other players

Ladders

What are Ladders?
Ladders are competitive rankings. Each ladder has players ranked from #1 (best) to the bottom. You climb by winning matches.
Joining a Ladder
  • Public ladders: Browse and join directly
  • Private ladders: Need an invite code from the ladder owner
  • Some ladders may have specific requirements (skill level, location, etc.)
  • You can leave a ladder anytime from your profile
Creating Your Own Ladder
  1. Go to Profile → My Teams
  2. Tap "Create New Ladder"
  3. Choose a sport and ladder name
  4. Set privacy settings (public/private)
  5. Share the invite code with friends
  6. Start managing your ladder
Ladder Management (Owners)
As an owner, you can transfer ownership, remove members, delete empty ladders, and manage settings.

Challenges

Sending Challenges
  1. Go to a ladder you're a member of
  2. Tap a player's name in the rankings
  3. Choose Send Challenge
  4. Select challenge type (Singles/Doubles/Team)
  5. Add notes if needed
  6. Tap Send Challenge
Challenge Types
Singles, Doubles, and Team with different acceptance rules.
Accepting/Declining Challenges
You will receive a notification; review details and accept/decline. Team challenges require all members to accept.
Challenge Status Tracking
Pending, Accepted, Declined, Completed, Expired.

Matches

Recording Match Results
  1. Open the challenge
  2. Tap Record Result
  3. Enter score
  4. Select winner
  5. Add notes
  6. Submit
Match Verification
Both players can record results; discrepancies are flagged; verified results update ELO.
Fairness Ratings
Rate sportsmanship after matches to help maintain fairness.
Match History
View past matches, scores, opponents, and ELO changes.

Rankings

ELO Rating System
  • Win vs higher-rated = bigger gain
  • Win vs lower-rated = smaller gain
  • Loss vs higher-rated = smaller loss
  • Loss vs lower-rated = bigger loss
Understanding Rankings
Rankings are ELO-based and update after verified matches; each ladder is independent.
How Rankings Change
Depends on rating difference, outcome, and games played.
Viewing Your Stats
See ELO, highest ELO, rank history, win rate, and progress.
